- ELWOOD - Deloris Campbell, 77, lifelong resident of Elwood, passed away Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014, at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital surrounded by her loving family following an extended illness. Deloris was born Nov. 6, 1936, in Elwood to Willie and Mildred (Leever) Caldwell. She married Jackie Campbell on Aug. 20, 1955, and he passed away on May 22, 2011. Deloris had been employed at Emka Machine & Tool, and most recently at the Elwood YMCA as the receptionist. She enjoyed reading and working her crossword puzzles. Deloris loved to go camping, fishing and just spend time with her family. Deloris is survived by children, Debbie (Jeff) Arehart of Elwood, Roger (Susan) Campbell of Arden, N.C., and Dana (Dana Lynn) Campbell of Anderson; nine grandchildren, Desiree (Shawn) Lineberry, Ivy (Jimmy) Rigney, Jessica, Jama and Jenna Campbell, Tyler and Brooke Campbell, Mandy Wright and Breann Cain; and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Deloris was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters, Wilma Slayton and Ilene Stage; and two brothers, Willie Caldwell Jr. and Don Leever. Funeral service will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at Dunnichay Funeral Home, Elwood. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the United Mitochondria Disease Foundation.
