- MARIAN COUCH OBITUARY
Marian McCuiston Couch entered into the more immediate presence of her Savior on Monday April 3rd in her home at Salemtowne. Marian was born in Winston-Salem on January 9, 1925, to Robert Alexander and Margaret Agnes Blair McCuiston. She graduated from Reynolds High School and Wellesley College. Following college she worked in New York, first in the Surgical Pathology Department of New York Hospital and then at Scribner's Book Store in the children's department. She married Paul deSchweinitz Couch in 1949. She was a faithful companion in ministry with her husband at Moravian churches in Indiana, Pennsylvania and Ohio. A lifelong member of the Moravian church, she was a supporter and contributor to Moravian ministries including Camp Hope, Laurel Ridge and Sunnyside Ministry. She loved beach vacations where she sat in the sun and body surfed. Reading was one of her great passions. She was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Robert. A. McCuiston Jr.; her husband, Paul; her oldest son Fred; one grandchild and two great-grandchildren. She is survived by her sister, Erdmuth Venable; 4 children, the Right Reverend Blair Couch (Warren Gericke); Allison Couch (Tom Soals); Margaret Couch (Tod Serfass); Paul Couch, Jr. (Charlene Couch) and daughter-in-law Mary Hoey. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Salem Funeral Home, Main Street, on Wednesday April 12 from 6 pm-8 pm. The funeral will be at Home Moravian Church on Thursday April 13 at 1:30 pm with interment to follow in God's Acre. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Home Moravian Church or Sunnyside Ministry.
