ROXBURY — Catherine L. Gallant, 51, of Roxbury, died at her home unexpectedly on the morning of June 2.
She was born on July 15, 1958 in Ayer, Mass. She attended public school in Saco, and continued her education, obtaining a B.A. in early elementary education from Concordia University in 2001 and a B.A. in psychology from the University of Phoenix in 2010.
She owned and operated Wee-Care-4-U Childcare Center in Virginia Beach, Va. with 30 staff and 135 children for 11 years before moving back to Maine in 2001. She then taught at MSAD 43 and RSU 10 in the special education department. Her classroom was her second life and she cherished working with the students in her classroom and sharing her knowledge with her fellow teachers and friends.
Surviving are her mother, Uelel McCormick, of Virginia Beach, Va.; her husband, Timothy J. Gallant, of Roxbury; her oldest son, Brad Gallant, and wife, Mary, of Rumford; and their three children, Christopher Field, Jaclyn Torres, and Cameron Gallant; a daughter, Angela Gallant, of Mexico; siblings, Ralph Stanford, and wife, Debbie, Garvin Knox and wife, Sue, Jay Knox, Kimberly Grover and husband, Dan, Martin Stanford and wife, Brenda, Cameron Stanford and wife, Donna, and Chad Stanford; many nieces and nephews; and close friends, Stephen Emond and Shelby Jodrey.
She was predeceased by her youngest son, Joseph Gallant, and her mother-in-law, Rose Bither.
The family would like to thank the Mexico Fire Department; MedCare; Mexico Police Department; Oxford County Sheriff’s Office; and Rumford Community Hospital staff for all of their support and efforts.
