854 | George Lee Pyke, 57, Kokomo, passed away at 10:05 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2016, at Community North Hospital, Indianapolis. He was born Dec. 16, 1958, in Kokomo, to George Orville Pyke and Elizabeth Maxine (Campbell) Pyke. He attended Haworth High School. He first worked for Continental Steel then later worked for Chrysler Casting Plant in Kokomo. George loved fishing, spending time on his motorcycle, and pontoon boat. He especially loved spending time with family, friends, and his dog, Dollar. He will be sadly missed by family and was a very good man. He would help anyone in need. George loved his family dearly and they loved him dearly. Survivors include his mother of Kokomo; son, Dustin L. 855 | George Michael Olin George Michael Olin, of East Wenatchee and formerly Entiat, WA, passed away on Monday, September 27, 2010, after a yearlong battle with cancer. George Michael was born in Wenatchee on January 2, 1959, to Donald and Linda (McCuistion) Olin. Growing up in the Entiat Valley with his parents, two younger brothers, friends and classmates, instilled George Michael with a strong sense of belonging and community support. From an early age, George Michael knew he would serve his country in some way. After graduating from the Entiat High School in 1977, he enlisted in the United States Navy. George Michael's naval career began June 1977, in San Diego, CA and included tours of duty aboard the U.S.S. O'Brien, U.S.S. Chancellorsville and the U.S.S. Ranger Sentinel. When at sea, he worked as a Sonar Tech and instructed while stationed in San Diego, CA and U.S. Naval Complex Rhode Island. George Michael was a true sailor, loving the open seas and experiencing the many treasures the world has to offer. After 20 years of service, George Michael retired from the U.S. Navy in 1997, at which time he moved back to the Entiat Valley, where he soon met and married Heidi Rhianon Allen in April 1999, adopting her two sons, Morgan and Michael, as his own. In 2000, they were blessed with the birth of their youngest child, Evan. George Michael is survived by his wife, Heidi; sons, Morgan, Michael and Evan Olin; parents, Donald and Linda Olin; brothers and their families, James, Phylisha and Grey Olin, and Lee and Bobbie Olin. His family wishes him always 'Fair Winds and Calm Seas' on his greatest journey yet. The Family would like to extend a heartfelt "Thank You" to all hospice care workers, in particular Nurse Barb. 863 | Gerald Ray McQuestion, lovingly known as Jerry, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2024, at the age of 83. Born on May 16, 1941, Jerry's life was a testament to love, family, and a passion for the outdoors. After the passing of his father, Durwood J. McQuestion, in 1972, Jerry and his four brothers continued their father's legacy by taking over the family business, DJ McQuestion & Sons Inc. In 1986, Jerry's entrepreneurial spirit led him to channel his love for the outdoors into Rack-A-Tack Ranch, a venture that became both his passion and purpose, thriving to this day. Jerry was not only a dedicated businessman but also a family man who found joy in bringing people together. His life was filled with cherished moments—family cookouts at the cabin, sledding parties, and gatherings that celebrated the love he shared with those around him. His love for hunting and fishing was equaled only by his devotion to his family, which was the cornerstone of his life. Jerry is survived by his beloved wife, Lana June McQuestion; his children, Julie (Jim) Buys, Joni (Randy) Reece, and Jess McQuestion; and his cherished grandchildren, Linnea (Linc) LaFountain, Jamie (Charley) Koetje, Jarrod Holmes (Katrina Small), Jason Buys, Jennifer Reece, and Jeanene Reece (Kristian Mozden). He was a proud great-grandfather to Jaden Draper (Hunter Brahman), Jazmine Draper, Jolynn Bode, Josalin and Jayla LaFountain, Lachlan, Sutton, and Creighton Koetje, Jackson, Kyra, and Jaeci Holmes, and Mackenzie Speaks; and a great-great-grandfather to Brady Brahman. Jerry is also survived by his brothers Doug (Connie) McQuestion, Steve (Joyce) McQuestion, and Robert Alan (Renee) McQuestion. 865 | Gertrude Arlean (McQuiston) Weaver, 101, of Kokomo, Indiana, passed away on May 24, 2023. She was born on July 11, 1921, in Kokomo, Indiana, the daughter of Charles V. and Gertrude R. (Oesterle) Weaver. Arlean was a 1940 graduate of Kokomo High School. She won a contest in 1941 that led to Kokomo being deemed the "City of Firsts." Arlean loved to roller-skate and was a regular at the skating rink in her younger days. She also played guitar with a group on the Blue Monday Jamboree Program on WIOU in 1938. During WWII, she welded lifeboats for the Marines and was a government artillery inspector. Arlean worked and retired from Delco Electronics after 36 years, where she was a member of the UAW 292 and Delco Alumni Club. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Ron (Marcia) McQuiston, Karen Barnes, Rita (Mike) Moore; grandchildren, Denise McQuiston, Nick (Misti) McQuiston, Heather (Matt) Hubbard, Carol McQuiston, Jonathan Barnes, Carly (David) Brinkley, Casey (Jake) Hurlock; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Laciee, Donnie, Aubrie, Jenna, Jessina, Raziel, Saylor, Raelynn; sister, Rosalyn Rogers; and numerous nieces and nephews. 873 | Gloria (McQuesten) Washburne MONTPELIER — Gloria (McQuesten) Washburne, 81, of Heaton Woods Montpelier, passed peacefully, with family by her side, following a brief illness. Gloria was the first-born child of Helen (Clough) and Archie B. McQuesten, She was born in 1940 in Montpelier where she lived most of her life; graduating from Montpelier High School and Vermont College. Gloria had worked many jobs, one which she was most proud of was as the head secretary for two Vermont governors, Gov. F. Ray Keyser and Gov. Philip Hoff. Other jobs included working various support positions in the Montpelier School District and as office administrator for the Vermont Association for Mental Health. Even more important than any job to Gloria was her volunteer and advocacy work. She worked tirelessly advocating for the education and rights of people with disabilities, as well as serving as a foster parent, and a court-appointed educational surrogate and guardian ad litem. She will also be remembered for some unusual hobbies and pastimes, including juggling, square dancing and woodcarving. Gloria is survived by her son, Todd Washburne, of Marshfield; her daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Kevin Toomey, of Berne, New York; grandchildren, Cailyn and Quinn Toomey; and her brother, Gary McQuesten (Karen), of Plainfield. Gloria was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Ben Washburne, her parents, and sister, Linda McQuesten, all from Montpelier.
