      ELKINS - Bernice Gabbard Johnson, 77, of Elkins, Ark., went to be with her Lord and Savior, Nov. 15, 2011. She was born May 19, 1934, in the Health Community near Brannon Mountain, to Denzel and Hazel Gabbard.
      She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Doyne Gabbard and Albert "Buster" Gabbard; and her husband of 51 years, Richard Coleman Johnson.
      She loved being with her family, was an avid fisherman and loved camping and reading. She retired from Baldwin Piano and was a past board member of the Elkins Library.
      She is survived by three sisters, Sarah Jane Burris of Truman, Ark., Virginia and husband, Jess Gardner, of Elkins, and Glannis Mason of Fayetteville; five sons, Steve Johnson and wife, Vicky, of Elkins, Mark Johnson and wife, Susan, of Baldwin Community, David Johnson and wife, Leisha, of Wesley, Doug Johnson and wife, Mary, of Elkins, and Terry Johnson and wife, Sheila, of Elkins; one brother-in-law, Gary Johnson and wife, Barbara, of Springdale; one sister-in-law, Margaret Johnson of Fayetteville; 10 grandchildren, Jackie, Matthew, Amanda, Jessica, Cassie, Keisha, Kaylee, Joshua, Alyssa and Heather; nine great-grandchildren; many loving nieces and nephews; loving friends and extended family the Whistle Stop Seniors.
      Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Beard's Funeral Chapel in Fayetteville, with the Rev. Jasper Hankins officiating. Burial will be in the Brannon Mountain Cemetery.
      Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
      Memorials may be made to the Willard Walker Hospice House and the Whistle Stop Seniors.

      Richard Coleman Johnson, 75, of Elkins, Ark., died Nov. 5, 2002, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. He was born Feb. 16, 1927, at Cherry Creek, Ark., to Nolan and Annie McChristian Johnson. He was a former truck driver for Willis Shaw Trucking Company and a retired shipping clerk at Campbell Soup Company. He was a veteran of the United States Army during World War II.
      Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Bernice Gabbard Johnson of the home, five sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Vicky Johnson of Elkins, Ark., Mark and Susan Johnson of Fayetteville, Ark., David and Leisha Johnson of Wesley, Ark., Douglas and Mary Johnson of Elkins, Ark., and Terry and Sheila Johnson of Elkins, Ark., one brother, Gary Johnson of Springdale, Ark., ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Charles and Bill Johnson.
      Funeral services were Friday, Nov. 8, at Beard's Funeral Chapel of Fayetteville. Pallbearers were Jackie, Matt, Josh, Larry, Shane, and Brian Johnson. Honorary pallbearers were Mike Stewart, Phineas Ramey, Wayne Parrish, Howard Ridenhour, Tim Johnson, Marion Johnson, Richard Wagnon, and Bill Dailey. Burial was in Brannon Mountain Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at Beard's Chapel.
