Bessie “Lorraine” Fuller, 84, of North Platte, passed away May 21, 2016, in San Diego, California.
Bessie “Lorraine” Fuller was born on Sept. 15, 1931, the youngest child of Jueal (Finch) and John McCuiston. She was raised in North Platte, leaving for two years as a child to live in Snyder, Colorado.
Lorraine married Richard “Dick” Fuller on Oct. 8, 1949. Together they shared 65 years, until his passing on Dec. 13, 2014. Her husband worked for Union Pacific Railroad. After his retirement, they both enjoyed fishing and spending time at the lake in their motor home. Lorraine could really cook up a great-tasting catfish.
Lorraine enjoyed gardening and planting her flowers and was always involved in some sort of craft, including quilting, embroidery, arts, painting and floral arrangements. She enjoyed baking cakes, cookies and candy to give out to friends. Word search was a favorite pastime and she felt it helped to keep a healthy brain. She made over 100 glass and crystal beaded bracelets shortly before her passing that she enjoyed gifting to friends and family.
Lorraine was a care provider most of her life, beginning with a home delivery of her niece when she was only 15 years old. She helped care for her son, James, and daughter-in-law, Nancy, as they struggled with cancer and then helped raise her granddaughter, Brandi. For many years she helped her husband through his journey with Alzheimer’s. She loved her little dog Missy, who brought her great joy and companionship.
Lorraine had many family and friends who loved her and will miss her sweet face and conversations. She will be greatly missed here on earth, but Heaven is happy that she is home. Lorraine always said her prayers and felt God close in her heart.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dick; infant daughter, Beverly Marlene; son, James and his wife, Nancy; brothers, Bob, Denver, Rich and Jack; and sister, Gladys.
Survivors include her brother, Berley McCuiston; daughters, Gail (Steve) Waltman and Barbara (Darwin) Thompson; grandchildren, Brandi Walker, Lesley Lay, Andrea Lyon and Bailey Thompson; seven great-grandchildren, James, Hailey, Marley, Talon, Stella, Ruby and Dalton; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
      Private services are pending.
