    • Durwood J. McQuestion spells his name with an 'e' instead of 'i' because he discovered it was that way on his birth certificate so he thought he had to spell it that way. It was spelled that way on his sister Marguerite McQuistion Engstrom's certificate, also, but since she was married when the discovery was made, she did not have the necessary changes made. His brother Arnold states it was spelled correctly on his birth certificate.

      Earl Arnold McQuistion
      CADILLAC - Earl Arnold McQuistion, 90, of Cadillac passed away August 20, 2010 in Cadillac where he lived and worked most of his life.
      He was born at home in Dighton, Mich., to Earl and Ida Burdick McQuistion July 24, 1920. Earl graduated from LeRoy Agricultural High School in 1939, where he excelled in basketball and baseball. He was stricken with polio in 1940. He was employed in the design office of MDOT from 1953 until his retirement in 1985. Earl married Alice Mae Sawin on September 20, 1952.
      He is survived by his wife, Alice of Cadillac; his four children, Lori (Derek) Aab of Billings, Mont., Jan (Ernie) Jury of Lake Ann, Mich., Mona (Chip) Garvin of Cadillac, and Jeff (Heidi) McQuistion of Lake Ann; five grandchildren, Erin Garvin Conant, Alexandra Garvin, Kellie Aab, Kyle Jury, and Janah Jury Crow; two great-grandchildren, Elaina and Lola; and his brother, John (Dora) McQuistion of Indianapolis, Ind.
      He was eagerly looking forward to the birth of baby Stella in October.
      Earl was preceded in death by one brother, Durwood, and two sisters, Marguerite Engstrom and June Johnson.
      There will be a memorial service at 2 p.m. Friday, September 3, at the Cadillac Seventh-day Adventist Church on East Division.
