He was born Feb. 16, 1927, at Cherry Creek, Ark., to Nolan and Annie McChristian Johnson. He was a former truck driver for Willis Shaw Trucking Company and a retired shipping clerk at Campbell Soup Company. He was a veteran of the United States Army during World War II. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Bernice Gabbard Johnson of the home, five sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Vicky Johnson of Elkins, Ark., Mark and Susan Johnson of Fayetteville, Ark., David and Leisha Johnson of Wesley, Ark., Douglas and Mary Johnson of Elkins, Ark., and Terry and Sheila Johnson of Elkins, Ark., one brother, Gary Johnson of Springdale, Ark., ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Charles and Bill Johnson. Funeral services were Friday, Nov. 8, at Beard's Funeral Chapel of Fayetteville. Pallbearers were Jackie, Matt, Josh, Larry, Shane, and Brian Johnson. Honorary pallbearers were Mike Stewart, Phineas Ramey, Wayne Parrish, Howard Ridenhour, Tim Johnson, Marion Johnson, Richard Wagnon, and Bill Dailey. Burial was in Brannon Mountain Cemetery.
