Norma Carol Rogers, 59, of Route #1, Cherryvale, Kansas, died March 30, 1999 at the Jane Phillips Memorial Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She was born October 6, 1939 at Japton, Arkansas, the daughter of Claud and Maida Pauline Spurlock McChristian. She was a 1957 graduate of Huntsville High School and had retired from Peoples State Bank in Cherryvale in 1998. She was the widow of J. M. Rogers who preceded her in death on October 4, 1985.
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Eric D. and Sherri Stong of Overland Park, Kansas; one daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Kevin Brubaker of Dallas, Texas; her father, Claud McChristian of Japton; one brother, Jim McChristian of Elkins; one sister, Mrs. Sue Bowman of Huntsville; three grandchildren, Brett Stong of Overland Park, Kansas, Madison Brubaker and Kolby Brubaker, both of Dallas, Texas; her companion, Mike Housel of Cherryvale, Kansas.
Graveside services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 3, at the Grose Cemetery with Jack Harriman, Minister, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home of Huntsville. Pallbearers were Jon Bowman, Brett Stong, Jamie McChristian, Dewey Spurlock, Jerry Counts and Robert Harriman.

Mrs. Maida Pauline McChristian, 78, of Japton, died February 22, 1998 at the Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. She was born January 21, 1920 at Japton, the daughter of John William and Theresa Ann Rogers Spurlock. She was retired from the Campbell Soup Company in Fayetteville and was a member of the Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by one sister. Mrs. Opal Harriman.
Survivors include: her husband, Claud McChristian of the home whom she married on September 6, 1937; one son, James C. McChristian of Pettigrew; two daughters, Mrs. Norma Carol Rogers of Cherryvale, Kansas and Mrs. Karen Sue Bowman of Huntsville; three sisters, Mrs. Chloe Glenn of Ontario, Oregon, Mrs. Ora Ball of Fayetteville and Mrs. Joy Lee Johnson of Springdale; one brother, Ray Spurlock of Fruitland, Idaho; three grandsons, Eric Stong of Overland Park, Kansas, James L. McChristian of Elkins, and Jonathan Bowman of Huntsville; two granddaughters, Ms. Denise Brubaker of Dallas, Texas and Mrs. Deborah Weaver of Fayetteville; three great-grandsons, Brett Stong of Overland Park, Kansas, Zachery Weaver and Blake James Weaver, both of Fayetteville; and one great-granddaughter, Miss Madison Brubaker of Dallas, Texas.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 24, in the chapel of Brashears Funeral Home with Ed Spurlock, Minister officiating. Interment was in the Grose Cemetery under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were: Eric Stong, Brett Stong, Jonathan Bowman, James L. McChristian, Thomas Mitchell and Dewey Spurlock. Honorary pallbearers were: Raymond Rogers, Robert Harriman, Marvin Johnson, Lewis Mitchell and Ervin Duncan.
