Dorothy Ann Richards, 74, of New Castle passed away the evening of July 14, 2021, at her son's residence in Grove City.
Born on May 1, 1947, in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Albert Merrit and Dorothy Mae (Wharry) McQuiston.
Dorothy was a 1966 graduate of Neshannock High School.
She was employed at Shenango China for 19 years. While at Shenango China, Dorothy worked as a billing clerk, operator, foreman, in the decal department and as a supervisor.
She enjoyed hunting, fishing, and crafts and was a member of the Shenango Hunting and Fishing Club.
She formerly attended King's Chapel Church.
What gave Dorothy the most joy in life was the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Dorothy is survived by her son, David "Scott" (Jessica L.) Richards of Grove City; two brothers, Gary (Dana) McQuiston of New Wilmington and George (Barb) McQuiston of Carlisle, Pennsylvania; two nieces, Kortney McQuiston of Hopewell and Cheryl McQuiston of Oklahoma; one nephew, Timmy McQuiston of Carlisle, Pennsylvania; and two grandchildren, Sydney and Levi Richards of Grove City.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death in 2001 by her common-law husband of 21 years, Martin Shaffer; and one nephew, Shane McQuiston.
In keeping with her wishes, all services were private for the family.
Burial will be at Neshannock Presbyterian Cemetery.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.
