    • Annie Mae McCuiston, 95, of Chicago, passed away Monday (Aug. 27, 2018) at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee.
      Visitation will be from 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31, until the 6:30 p.m. funeral service at Lax Mortuary in Kankakee. The Rev. Fred Bryant will officiate. Burial will be Sunday, Sept. 2, in Springhill Cemetery, in Springhill, Miss.
      Annie Mae McCuiston was born May 22, 1923, in Lodi, Miss., the daughter of Joe Beckom and Ida Dell Brown Payton.
      She was baptized at Union Grove in Lodi, Miss., and was a member of Greater Emmanuel in Chicago, where she served as the Sunday school secretary and was on the Mother Board for more than 20 years. She completed the C.J. Walker School of Cosmetology and was a licensed beautician.
      Annie was united in holy matrimony to Stonewall McCuiston Sr. on Jan. 15, 1958, and to their union two children were born.
      She worked for Solo Light Company for 15 years and took care of her sister and family for many years. Annie was a great cook and baker and enjoyed church and her grandchildren.
      She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Dr. Stonewall McCuiston Jr. (Melinda), of Kankakee, and Phillip McCuiston (Adrianne), of Chicago; five grandchildren, Jenita, Stonewall III, Kenyatta, Albert and Joe; six great-grandchildren, Timothy, Jalen, Kelise, Khali, Niya and Kaeya; and many other relatives and friends.
