      — Elwood "Al" Dewayne McQuiston passed away at the age of 83 on Sunday, February 3, 2013, at Autumn Grace in Mankato.

      Memorial Service will be 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 11, 2013, at Grace Lutheran Church in Mankato. Visitation will be from 2-4:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 10, 2013, with a Masonic Service at 3:30 all at Mankato Mortuary. A private family interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Mankato. Mankato Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.

      Al was born on December 8, 1929, in Tomah, WI, to Claude (Rusty) R. and Evelyn Fenske McQuiston. He grew up in Tomah, Wisconsin, Monaca, Pennsylvania, Charleston, Indiana, and St. Paul/Minneapolis, Minnesota. Al was baptized in 1939 and confirmed in 1954. He served in the US Army, 1st Cavalry, Mechanized.

      Al was united in marriage to Margaret King on August 22, 1959, and they lived the largest share of their married life in Rochester, Minnesota, and Mankato.

      Al was employed by AAA Minnesota for 35 years, with most of those 35 years being the Division Manager of Southern Minnesota, retiring in 1995. After his retirement he was co-owner of ALMAR Tours.

      He was Director of the March of Dimes, Watonwan County, St. James, Minnesota and was a 50 year member of Zurah Shrine, on the Advisory Council of the Order of DeMolay. He also was a 50 year member of Fraternity Lodge #101, Worthington, MN, a 50 year member of Living Arch Chapter #28, Worthington, MN, a 50 year member of Scottish Rite Consistory 32, Rochester, MN, and a member of Local 49 Operating Engineers.

      Al is survived by his wife, Margaret; two daughters: Coreen Truman of Waupaca, WI, and Leslie McQuiston of Eagan, MN; granddaughters: Erica (Gunar) Gossard of Minneapolis, Eleanor (Dr. Peter) Schmidt of Miami, FL, and Meagan (Jacob) Waller of Waupaca, WI; grandson, Aaron Truman of Portland, OR; great-granddaughters: Nora and Maren Gossard, Elizabeth, Riley and Lucy Schmidt, Natalie Waller; great grandson, Oliver Waller; sister-in-law, Joanne Evans of Rochester, MN; brother-in-law, Harlan Thompson of St. James, MN; many nieces and nephews.

      He was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Wm. J. and Bernice King; and sister-in-law, Phyllis Thompson.

      Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers to the Humane Society, Cancer Society, Masonic Lodge, Masonic Cancer Center, Hospice, Grace Lutheran Church in Mankato or any organizer as the donor chooses.
