    • Lettice was betrothed to a Mr. Warner who was in Europe at the time Mr. Clagett appeared in Portsmouth. It was believed to be through her mothers ambitions that she married before Mr. Warner's return. Historians tell that the life of Letitia with Mr. Clagett was not a happy one but was offset by many happy years with Simon McQuesten.
