      Gerald "Jerry" Meens, 95, of Topeka, died on Monday, April 21, 2014 at Aldersgate Village.
      Jerry was born on January 19, 1919 in Topeka to George and Delva (Khonle) Meens. He graduated from Berryton High School.
      Jerry was married to Beulah McQuiston in Topeka on October 20, 1940. After his marriage, Jerry served his country honorably during World War II in the Navy.
      Survivors include his wife, Beulah Meens; two sons, Jerry Dean (Jane) Meens and Gregg (Mary) Meens, all of Topeka; 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and by two sisters, Louise Messenger and Connie Meens.
      Jerry delivered the mail for many years in the Berryton community and was a long time member of the Berryton United Methodist Church.
      A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 24, 2014 at the Berryton United Methodist Church, 7010 SE Berryton Rd., Berryton, KS 66409. Burial with military honors will follow at Lynn Creek Cemetery in Berryton.
      In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Jerry's memory may be made to Berryton United Methodist Church. Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel is assisting the family.
